The Culture

Jordan has a warm and welcoming culture where guests and tourists are treated with great respect. People are friendly and often share food, stories and traditions with visitors. You can taste delicious local dishes, explore lively markets and see a mix of modern life and old customs. Hospitality is an important part of daily life in Jordan and you will quickly feel included and safe wherever you go.

What to wear

Jordan is comfortable to travel in as long as you dress for the weather and the local culture. Light clothes work well in the heat, especially in the desert, but carry a warm layer for cooler evenings. In cities and towns, it is respectful to wear clothes that cover your shoulders and your knees. At the Red Sea and in adventure areas, normal swimwear and sport clothes are completely fine. Good walking shoes are helpful everywhere. Women do not have to cover their hair.

Safety

Jordan is one of the safest countries to visit in the region and welcomes millions of travellers every year. The tourist areas are well cared for and the people are helpful and friendly. Visitors often say they feel comfortable walking around both during the day and in the evening. Jordan is safe for both women and men, and many female travelers say they feel relaxed and respected during their stay. Local guides, hotels and drivers are used to supporting international guests and are always ready to help. Jordan takes good care of its visitors, which makes it a great destination for solo travelers, groups and families alike. And I’m here if you are ever concerned with anything, and I’m ready to help :)

Flights

Flying to Jordan is easy and comfortable and you fly to Queen Alia Airport. There are many international routes into Amman, and Royal Jordanian even flies direct from Stockholm. When you land at the airport you will go through a smooth entry process where you buy the visa or show the Pre-bought Jordan Pass.

Getting around Jordan

Uber or Careem is the easiest and most convenient way to get around the city. It is reliable, very affordable and allows you to see the price before you book. We do not recommend using the local yellow taxis.

Visa/Jordan Pass

The Jordan Pass is a great option for most travellers. It covers your visa-fee and gives you entry to many of the top attractions including Petra. You purchase it online before you arrive and simply show the QR code at the border or at the sites.

For travelers from Scandinavia and Europe this usually means you will not need to pay a separate visa fee and it makes entering Jordan much easier and saves both time and money.
